Is there a way to expand and contract the horizontal spacing on a
measure-to-measure basis? For a simple example, three measures of quarter
notes:
a4 a4 a4 a4
a4 a4 a4 a4
a4 a4 a4 a4
Can I get the second measure to be widely spaced and then the third measure
back to more closely spaced?

I have tried increasing the system-system-spacing #'minimum-distance and
system-system-spacing #'padding variables. But when I compile I receive the
message "warning: cannot fit music on page: ragged-spacing was requested,
