Yes i have them checked to be seen.
I did find out that they will not show up if formatted in "ntfs"

Hi,
If the device is not showing up on your Desktop, then it is likely in the
Sidebar of open windows. Myself, I prefer to have all internal and external
HDs, connected Servers and other ejectable media to be visible on my Desktop.
It's just what I got used to in the old days of the MacOS. Y

If it is plugged in the back of my iMac or keyboard, there is no difference.
