I have 2 tifs - one that Mapguide can't see (when you click on the
datasource to preview the feature it says Total Entries: 0) and the other it
can (i click on the datasource and then view data, the class says Total
Entries: 1 and shows the path to the tif)

You are right i had moved the file but not the .tfw - i moved it back and
then did a new print out and there is more data (as you can see below) so i
investigated and it seems the tif file is corrupt or something as i can'

created by gdal (gdal notes web page) when you add your tiffs. the .tfw
files contain the extens for the tif files but if your tiffs are geotiffs
then these would already contain this extent info within its header. Y

I can see it in IIS and when i right-click browse it opens it in internet
expolere but gives me the HTTP 500 error?
If i right-click open nothinig happens.
I can't see any other obvious settings to change.

Thank you for your continued help.
I can see the file from within IIS and if i choose browse it opens internet
explorer with same HTTP 500 error.
There are no obvious permsissions to change on the file - can you suggest
anything else?

I did create it manually so i followed your advise tried using the script
from the GDAL notes webpage and it keeps giving me an HTTP 500 Internal
Server Error.

That seems to work out correctly.
You should try to add a vector layer with data that displays correctly,
in the same area.
Then make a new map, and add both the raster layer as well as the vector
layer.
Make sure that the raster layer featuresource projection is the same as
