I tried holding for 10 seconds but not 30, I might try that.

The switch is fine. I tried a different switch none the less it activates the
relays or whatever it is in the module. 2nd module does exactly the same thing.
I suppose I could try a 3rd one and see what happens before installing this
other seat.

Is the switch one of those you can open up (inside a ziplock bag to contain any
wayward springs) and clean?
Who has messed with w210 seats? The passenger seat on my 99 only moves forward
and back. And the rear tilt goes up and down. No other functions work. I
suspected a bad switch so I tried a different switch and it did not help. When
the functions are activated I can hear the relay click but it doe
