I *think*, but haven't tested, that if you walled-garden apple.com it
should think it's connected properly, then give you the hotspot login
once you browse anywhere.
If it's not apple.com that it hits, then torch/packet sniffer/dns cache
should tell you what it's trying to do.

I've got a customer that has a potential to install 3500 hotspots
across the country.
They'd be installed in Electric Vehicle Charging Stations on a
nationwide rollout plan.
They've asked me to design their on-site networking for them, and I
instantly thought of Mikrotik (who wouldn't!).
