You're not the only one being slapped with this problem,
and the solution is in the man page,
but maybe the FAQ for 'using snapshots' should mention this:
if `pkg -u` don't work, try `pkg -u -Dsnap`
I've been using snapshots ever since puffy offered binary pkgs,
and I've never seen this problem
