Mono uses access violations to implement null reference exceptions on
Windows (IIRC). Mono handles these normally during program flow. However,
when the debugger is attached it handles them before mono can. I don't know
of a way to avoid this behavior. Normally, I just issue an assert
Using data contract solves the issue. It was due to that (1) it was
not picking base type members in ISerializable, so do not use
ISerializable (e.g. use data contract), and (2) fields with special
members were not encoded in valid xml name, which happens only to
automatically generated
