Several birds of note were seen between Duluth and Grand Marais today, and
here's a brief summary. Please note that these birds were seen by various
birders (not just me; about 40 of us in 2 main groups were involved):
- Red Phalarope at Black Beach in Lake Co; this location is well signed
The Sabine's Gull was still present at 4:50 p.m. on the SW cell. Mike Oetken
drove over and also got some pictures of it.

I saw 3 white-winged crossbills at Glendalough State Park at about 9 this
morning. One was a bright pink-red male with bold black and white wings. Not
the crossbill species I was expecting.

Around 3:30 pm I found a juvenile Sabine's Gull at the Sleepy Eye WTP's.
Cirrently in the far eastern cell, trying to grt a decent digiscope pic of it.
I did see it in flight so no doubt of it's ID.

I saw a Surf Scoter on Centerville Lake today between noon and 1:00. It was at
the northeast end of the lake near Main Street. It was with a small flock of
Ruddy Ducks.

deciduous tree and then took off again to the north. We were out of the car
