on my system - Fedora 5 - the mysql databases
are stored in /var/lib/mysql ;
in particular the mysql database is stored in /var/lib/mysql/mysql/
where I see the files host.[frm,MYD,MYI] .

a GUI Linux application
which allows data to be entered in an SQL table.
My preference would be for Python and KDE,
but those aren't essential.
