I was informed today by a couple of NYC Parks Department employees that the
back of Calvert Vaux (nee Dreier Offerman) Park in Brooklyn will be closed to
the public through Friday due to some heavy fence reconstruction. This is the
area that has remained accessible while they work on the east side of the park.
This means the entire park will be inaccessible through Friday.

Just some expected late season migrants there today, notably 4 Eastern
Meadowlarks, 6 Eastern Bluebirds, a couple of Wilson's Snipe and a migrating
Red-shouldered Hawk soaring quite high. A check of Fort Tilden and Floyd
Bennett Field earlier in the day showed that Dark-eyed Juncos and
Golden-crowned Kinglets are decidedly in. Tilden also held one each of
Lincoln's and Vesper Sparrow.
