As a folder who grew up in Japan, I had never seen or made a flapping bird
until I was shown it by my BOS friends in Birmingham. It is not common in
Japan, and tends to be viewed as quite ugly or ungraceful compared to the
traditional crane. It is certainly never depicted in Japanese prints, fab
