Larry, if you watch the WildEarth channel you will see plenty of that.
Man is just as bad but nowadays the prey animals & birds are (hopefully)
killed in a more civilized fashion. I wonder how many people realise
that a juicy steak was once part of a living animal? Then we have the

Funny, all the unsolicited reels offered to me on instagram are about
cats and dogs which are so cosy with each other, as well as wild animals
befriended with people.
My late dog was always ready to fight with cats, wheras animals in our
local nature usually do not appreciate my presence.
There is a very impressive account on Instagram called nature_is_metal which is
a collection of videos and photos of things happening in nature that do not
give you the warm fuzzies.

A bit gruesome but that's nature for you. I have never seen anything
like that - the ones around here all seem to survive on tiddlers.

After I saw a grey heron swallowing two coot chicken in two successive

It’s always nice to see images of these impressive birds,

Bird photography can be so frustrating. The light was spot on for that

Just for the record, these guys you both shot are Great Blue Herons...
even though, as we all can see, they have more

Joseph, I like that bottom one better --- book-end effect of birdies

Good to here you back, are you sure they're Great Bluie Herons? All the
information I have points to grey. Maybe it's a geographical thing. Thanks for
the comments, I went back yesterday but only got a fleeting glance of the
Heron. I was really looking to
/4's etc as well.

John

Looks like a great place for a photowalk. Nice capture. Is that really
a DA*300? I expected a more creamy bokeh (the double out of focus
twigs in the background).

Looks like both you and the heron had a good time. :-)
Good pose, but the cattail crossing the beak distracts me a bit.

Very interesting John, but a little busy for my taste - too much in
focus and too strong foreground. Shows the bird and the place, I´d like
more of the bird. Not that it´s easy as talking about it...
