Seems like more and more common. Most want AF in such a lens. I've noticed too that
the prices for manual focus 645 gear is dropping.

The FA lens manual states that the filter holder should be in place as it is
designed to work as part of the optical system.

The FA* super telephotos have filters as standard and part of the optical
system whereas the A* superteles do not; at least not the A* 300/2.8.
