3400c RAM card

Hi... My 3400c is only recognizing my RAM card at certain times...I've got a 32MB card in, and it is known-good, but the 3400c doesn't even see it most of the time I power up. I don't get any messages that the RAM card is damaged; call tech support, etc... Any help would be appreciated :-)
