Dear all,
I have the same problem with QGIS 1.8 installed on Ubuntu oneiric.
I don't see the menu Plugins/Fetch Python Plugins.

I agree, I have 2 other reports of the same issue. Question to all of
you who had this issue, did you use the qgis.org packages or the
ubuntugis packages?
Thanks,
Alex

That depends on the particular plugins. Others should install fine now.

I have installed the plugin,
I have created manually the folder and I have changed the permission.
Is it possible that there will be other problems in QGis?

Actually I had that same problem after installing qgis to a new
machine. It seems that the python/plugins folder is not created when
it is absent. This deserves a bug report.

Hi Sergio,
it seem you don't own .qgis directory in your home dir:
type in a terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T keyboard shortcut ...)
ls -la /home/sergio/ | grep .qgis
and see results.
In case, to change the owner of the .qgis dir type in a terminal window:
sudo chown -R sergio:sergio /home/sergio/
It's something like this:
Unpack (unzip) the plugin failed. Probably the file is corrupted or does
not exist in the repository. Check the write permissions of the folder of
plugins:
/ home / sergio / .qgis / / python / plugins "

Thanks to all, but I don't be able to install any plugins
I get again this message
"Scompattazione (unzip) del plugin non riuscita. Probabilmente l'archivio è
corrotto o non esiste nel repository. Controllare i permessi in scrittura
della cartella dei plugin:
/home/sergio/.qgis//python/plugins"
"Add 3rd party repositories" button was removed in 1.8. See [1].

This was removed as of 1.8 as we would like people to use the
plugins.qgis
Hello,
I have just installed ubuntu 12.04 and I have a problem with QGis 1.8.
In Managing Plugins I don't find the "Add 3rd party repositories" button
and if I try to install any plugins I get this message "Scompattazione
(unzip) del plugin non riuscita. Probabilmente l'archivio è corrotto o non
