Aha; thanks. One more reason to hold on to my 5 as long as I can, though
one condition of upgrading my daughter's 6 was that she pay (well, 2/3 or
so) for the glass repair so that I have a working 6 as a backup for myself.

Patrick,
What makes the 6 and newer phones more fragile is the glass goes all the
way to the edge of the phone and there is no protective frame border built in
to the casing.
It makes for a slimmer phone with larger screens but if the phone tops and
lands on the edge, the glass breaks.
FWIW, I've dropped my 5, 4, and 3 many times, and never broken anything. I
gather that the 6 is far more fragile.
What about the 7? We may upgrade my daughter's 6 before the end of the year.

I've used an Otterbox on my 5s, but switched last year to a Spygen Tough
Armor case with the addition of a tempered glass screen protector. I love
the Spygen case. Much sleeker than the Otterbox, yet provides excellent
protection.
