but the problem still exists.
when I add the line:
wins server = 81.31.169.51
in my smb.conf the 'nmb' does not restart
somebody told me that this line makes your server a samba client and
'nmb' does not permit being samba server and client...
anywhere... as I said my sam

How is Samba configured? (If you could cut and paste or attach your
smb.conf file in a reply, we can help you out much better.)
Is Samba setup to act as a Domain Controller or a simple workgroup
configuration?
Have you run any updates on the Windows 98 machines?
Are the windows 98
