Hi, In the example file: https://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds/14.2/network/sshguard/sshguard.SlackBuild there is: chmod 0644 $PKG/etc/rc.d/rc.$PRGNAM.new I would say it's not necessary, because probably for that exact reason (assuming the default mandatory umask of 022 when building a package)
