Is there plans for snort or replacment in the 1.3 verions or what can I do
as a replacement for it. I was planning on putting it in on a network that
has a few webservers on it to help secure it alittle more. Any
recommendations are appreciated

Not sure why but re-installed pfsense on a test system pc from scratch and
the snort install is missing under packages.

You're correct. It was "historical*" and I've now
reduced/fixed/tested/deployed the config:
