There's real time GTFS and static GTFS files.
The static files have the current schedule, routes, bus stops, etc
contained in files. The files can be downloaded, but each transit agency
has its own location.
GO-Sync, from University of Southern Florida synchronizes some static
GTFS data with open

I am using GO-Sync, gtfs-osm-sync, to synchronize data for AC Transit.
For AC Transit, the gtfs_id, or stop_code, can be used to identify the
stop. That's the number on the sign, and can be as a phone code.
