apxs not finishing for mod_jk.so??

I dowloaded tomcat source and trying to build mod_jk.so using apxs gives this error during the linking of the o files: apxs: Break: Command failed with rc=16777215. Does anyone know what this means? How can I get past this part so that I can resume? Thank you, Simon
