Knoppix-adriane also works good. perhaps a version of ubuntu with the lxde
desktop and orca included? I think lxde is much more responsive than gnome is
and works good with orca. the only distro that lets us use lxde is currently
knoppix adriane.

I think in the next release when ubuntu live cd/dvd starts up it should detect
the sound card then say: if you're blind do this to start the live cd with orca
and dothat to start the installer with orca. make it more like the mac with
voiceover kind of.

Okay. Here is my experience with this bug:

The program 'gok' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized
