This may seem a silly thing but I wish to learn some MySQL.
Have down loaded all the packages using the Synaptic Package Manager OK.
When I try to start from the terminal however, I receive the error message:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'david'@'localhost' (using
As a guess, I'd say that when you have installed the packages,when it
would have asked you to create a root password for MySQL you either just
hit enter (thus having no password!) or MySQL is only half configured.
As you don't have any data in your MySQL, if you open a terminal and
type... sudo

there are practically no viruses around that I've heard of. If you only

when using ubuntu Linux, i got freezes while viewing youtube in firefox.

I had a similar problem after doing an upgrade from 9.04 (very disappointing
results!)
Solution was to disable the previously installed graphics driver and then
install new version:

I have exetel mobile broadband using Huawei E1762 modem on 9.10.
A couple of issues:
1. On a clean boot with the modem plugged in, 9.10 does not recognise the
modem. It recognises the storage part of the modem, but not the modem itself.
