I have made some progress with this Internet modem (but I'm not there
yet).
Firstly I established the current sierra modem driver version in each of
my two computers using the terminal command: 'modinfo sierra'
PC1 with 10.04LTS: v1.3.8
PC2 with 12.04LTS: v.1.7.16
I then referred to the Sierra Wire

thread. But did you get the modem from Big Pond or from Telstra? You may
say that these are the same company, but I have found that if you get
the modem directly from Telstra the APN to use may be telstra.internet

My experience with Telstra has never been good. I have a Telstra supplied
(September 2008) Next G Sierra AirCard 880U USB Wireless Modem. Within weeks
after having purchased this device from Telstra, Sierra reported though an
End-Of-Life communication that the AirCard 880U was no longer available f
