We have managed to get back Flash in Firefox 22 to work on Ubuntu 12.04.
Steps:
reinstall flashplugin-installer
reinstall FIREFOX (sic!)
move ~/.mozilla to backup directory
Start firefox.
All steps required - which suggests that the problem is not distribution-only.
