Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv
When playing back videos in Totem, the video itself will overlay
everything on the screen. This makes it impossible to use Totem's menus.
This does not happen with the nVidia binary drivers.
** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nv
I've been thinking about this screenshot and realise why Timo can't see
anything wrong. The png file will look correct under a 24 bit display,
but have gradients under a 16 bit display.
** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu)

The only nVidia driver that is stable is 177.78. All others including
177.80 crash. Perhaps Markus could test 177.78 with nvclock.

Incidentally, using driver 177.78 from nVidia never crashed with me. But
177.80 from nVidia does, almost immediately.

Have you been able to pin it down to anything? I have noticed the GPU
runs 10C hotter in Intrepid than in Hrady, but it doesn't seem to be an
overheating problem. I really am stumped as to what's causing it.

[nvidia-glx] [amd64] Frequent lock ups with white screen with black lines when
using
I have found that by running my laptop in a lower power state, that is
setting the CPU freq. to powersave, this seems to help. Also, I'm using
a basic stripped down version of xorg.conf which I'm letting nvidia-
settings change only.
