I have a feisty host that has X running. From an ssh session into that machine
I run xen-tools's xen-create-image to creating a feisty domU.
When that runs debootstrap (in the host, not the guest), and installs
console-setup, that corrupts video ram on X. I image the same thing could

I've had this problem too, even from a clean install, my ~./local
directory (and all its contents) were owned by root.
Running sudo chown against this directory as explained above fixed the
problem for me?

repositories. No problems at all :-D.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop, and my mic input doesn't pick up

I upgraded from edgy to fiesty. I notice that the 94MB boot partition
is completely full (100% in use) and this makes further upgrades
impossible. I tried deleting old kernel images from /boot but this made
only a slight difference.
