jpilot (if not configured with --with-flock) should use fcntl() instead
of flock(). I don't remember when this option was added.
Can you try to rebuild the Debian unstable version (1.6.2.4-1) and check the
problem is still present?
Or try to use strace(1) to know why the locking fails.

Would it be reasonable to (give the option to) start the wineserver
process on login? I find it's only slow to start the first Wine app
after logging in because the wineserver process is starting. Perhaps
that option could be part of winecfg, something like a Start Wine when
GNOME starts checkbox.
FYI : Ubuntu 8.04 (i386), OO 2.4.1

Hello devkitters,
In https://launchpad.net/bugs/349569 it was noted that devkit-disks
does not allow most of the ntfs-3g mount options. So far, ntfs-3g has
shipped a hal fdi as a workaround (attached) which allows those, but
obviously that doesn't work with dk-disks any more.

manually install realplayer. I already removed realplayer but the problem
consisted. The new strace said something about the Canberra libs. I'll
post that new strace up here for you to look at later, once I'm on the right
I just tested this using a 9.04 Live CD on my Compaq F750US.
The issue still exists when trying to get the internal mic to record any sound;
still nothing.
The issue is gone when I use a microphone plugged into the Mic jack on the
front of the system, though.

Thanks for your comments. After reading them and other works for me
comments, I decided to try upgrading to v3.1 using the instructions

However, I also patched my system at the same time, so I'm
What I forgot to say was that upgrading to OpenOffice v3.1 solved the
problem, however, the problem remains in Jaunty because there is no
automatic upgrade to OpenOffice v3.1 in Jaunty without user
intervention.
