I have an HP elitebook 8530p crap, and I had the same problem
(the X server thought that one button was pressed, but not released),
and it has turned out that an 'rmmod psmouse' "solves" the problem.
So I backlisted the psmouse module:

I have 10.10 i386 and this is still an issue. I tried with different
Mighty Mice that work in other Operating Systems. Mouse movements work,
the wheel works in 2 dimensions, but Button 1, Button 2 and Button 3
klicks do not arrive in X (xev). What a pity.

Same problem here, Ubuntu 10.10 - 64 running on AMD x 2 - Asus M2N4-SLI
with integrated soundcard and CA0106 Soundblaster.
Both cards worked fine but after an upgrade the CA0106 was unable to
play sound.
Solution: Install graphical ALSA mixer - gamix - and unmute the "IEC958
Playback" for "Audig
Pulseaudio is being sporatic on me. Right now it isn't making the funny
noises. Before I rebooted about 5 minutes ago it was (and there were no
upgrades to pulseaudio to change that). But just wait because if I reboot it
probably will. I have NO IDEA where or why the hell the is occurring. And

#270 also seems to fix the problem for me. Before #270 I used the kernel
from #237 which also fixed the problem for me. The standard Maverick
kernel (Linux laptop 2.6.35-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 21

Starting "/usr/sbin/ndb_mgmd" creates directory "/usr/mysql_cluster"
even if other data directory was given in configuration file
"ndb_mgmd.cnf". This file isn't found later on by "/usr/sbin/ndb" or
"/usr/sbin/mysqld" plugin "ndbcluster", disabling ndbcluster altogether.
Prob
While this bug report seems to have veered offtrack a bit, the original
discussion appears to me to be a difference of opinion about the default
behavior, where the current behavior matches expectations for one class
of user but not another. It sounds like the original behavior in the

Hi David, are you still able to reproduce this issue still on a recent
version of Ubuntu? I'm not sure how exactly this could be fixed, but
perhaps we could forward the bug upstream if it still occurs.
I don't think any additional data is needed, although you could run
'apport-collect 231800', wh
#270 seems to fix my problem. I've just downloaded a 1,2GB file at full
speed and the output at speedtest.net is perfectly normal, as good as on
Lucid.

The upstream package from bzr works fine, just the package wouldn't
build. So I'm slowly, in the background, doing a bisect. (NOt really a
bisect, I don't yet have a known bad commit id to start with, and bzr
doesn't afaict do bisect :)

of normal boot after the oem-config-prepare step, suddenly X starts, and
the user configuration step begin.
