I just booted in 2.6.32-25-generic and see instant improvement.

I can confirm problems with RT2860 in the 2.6.35-21-generic too.
I've had problem like it ever since Ubuntu 10.04 related to the kernel. (Bug

I have been running on a RC kernel which seemed to fix any problems.
Previously I had problems connecting to WPA2 Personal and possibly others too.
@Alexia:
In your case I might recommend you to use Marco Paulo Martins Sousa's #164
solution.
Go and download one of the proposed (2.6.33+) kernels.

This bug is still present in the 2010-01-24 daily live of Xubuntu.

I apologize ! I just face-palmed myself for this one.
I seem to have skimmed the man page too quickly as the correct command
naturally is:

I do however hold that the above described behavior

Perhaps, as the original post describes, it was just a fluke?

Doesn't the repository still point to the 2.6.32-9.9 kernel?
The problem seems to be with the 2.6.32 branch not the 2.6.31 which I've been
