This bug is similar to #160203. It happens with Hardy
ghostscript-8.61.dfsg.1-1ubuntu3.
With the attached gsbug0.ps postscript file,

When I installed the openssh-server package on 8.04, it did not create
the sshd privilege separation user, which causes the /etc/init.d/ssh
script to fail to start sshd at boot time.

the scripts in /etc/rc2.d/ are run, I discovered that if the
/etc/init.d/nis script runs after the /etc/init.d/hal script, then NIS
