It was a problem back then, because I wanted to preview that true type
font during design using gnome-font-viewer.
Nowadays gnome-font-viewer doesn't seem to be part of gnome anymore;
doubleclicking a ttf font icon doesn't start an associated application
and I can't find the program
For me it's the same thing; HP/Compaq NC6220 laptop with an Intel 915
chipset. As off Ubuntu 8.10 (32bit) I suffer from a frequently changing
screen brightness, when on battery power. I understood this is part of
more smart behaviour of Power Manager. I had to turn these options off
to make things
As off ca. sept last year this problem seems to be solved (improved
intel driver etc...?). Unfortunately I won't be able to complete this
with a crash report file.

Gutsy beta was installed last week
I just updated all the packages - and the problem still occurs.
This time it happened when moving totem to the right (making compiz slide to
the next desktop)

I can confirm on this. The lower panel is not directly visible after
system startup. I installed Gutsy beta two days ago, did an apt-get
dist-upgrade, and since then this problem occurs.

on the left side, moving the app over the left border of the screen
makes the whole system crash. Only the power button helps. I suppose

I continued working on my font however, and now that more glyphs have
been added (attachment), the app doesn't crash anymore. I do consider
the failing of gnome-font-viewer to report anything as a bug, however.

I am using Ubuntu 7.04. I can't get hold of the version number of gnome-
font-viewer though - but it is the version that came with 7.04 - didn't
mangle with it.

When using the gimp (2.3.18) in fullscreen (F11) mode to draw using a custom
animated brush, in Gutsy Gibbon, the interface responds slowly. It takes about
1 second before the brush stroke is drawn - then it stays up to date with your
movements.
Important notice: This bug doesn't occur when Desktop Effects are turned off,
and Metacity is used.
I suppose the compiz package is also involved by this bug.
