I am having frequent freezes of lxpanel when only using chromium
browser. I don't have LibreOffice. Running "lxpanelctl restart" from the
console seems to fix the freeze.

Today I tried to use the failsafe session in KDM but it didn't work.
The error stated it could find the X terminal emulator.
Installing xterm fixed the problem.

- make sure xterm is installed
- make it use konsole instead (I believe this is how it wo

It seems like alsa is not recognizing your soundcard model. I had the
same problems on both my systems and solved them with the instructions
on the page below:

In short you need to specify your soundcard model manually.

Volume Control won't work / No audio works except err
I have the same issue. Opening a PDF firefox will suggest to open it
with firefox. Strangely when I chose other and in the file selection
chose cancel, the correct program is displayed as default option (in my
case okular).
I upgraded from Kubuntu 7.10 to Kubuntu 8.04 RC.
