Seems to be affecting me too... I'm using Kubuntu 9.10, after the white
usplash logo the screen goes black and freezes. The system is
unresponsive. When I press the power button a blue rectangle appears on
my screen (looks like a blue xterm window when I xinit from a tty)
before it powers off. I
That appears to be it exactly! I have an SD card that I leave in the
slot and use as extra storage. When I suspend with the SD card mounted,
it freezes. However when I unmount the SD card it suspends normally.

I'm not using any raid in my machine... I have 1 sata drive that was
partitioned by Windows 7... so it has two NTFS partitions and an ext4

I tried that and you're right-- while I'm on the gdm login screen I can
successfully suspend and resume the machine. It's only once I get into a
session that I can't suspend properly.
It did suspend before, when I installed from Alpha 4.
What's interesting is that today I tried to suspend from
Now that Karmic is finally out, I downloaded a fresh live CD and popped
it into my machine.
Going into the live session and running the installer program... and I
still can't see anything on step 4. Looks exactly the same as the
screenshot I attached earlier.

ubiquity partition step does not
This is affecting me too... does not appear to be fixed as of 28/10.
I'm using the amd64 live CD. Ubiquity does not detect my SATA drives...
I just see a blank screen on step 4. There is no way to continue the
installation from here.

I'm getting the same bug... is it normal that Karmic is taking a long
time to shut down? It feels like it takes three times as long as Jaunty
shutting down. Without the splash screen I see these two lines:
