Nothing until I start named manually. Just complaints from ddclient,
ntpdate, and ntpd_initres about inability to resolve hostnames.

As of about 5 minutes ago, all packages up to date, yes, it does.
For what it's worth, the only message in syslog from boot that mentions

A few seconds after the braid screensaver starts running, either as a
screensaver or in the Screensaver preferences, the computer becomes
unresponsive. I can move the mouse, but clicking doesn't work, and
