unfortunate decisions through all those releases because trade-offs
always seemed to be worth it, and not once I've been tempted to be rude
to ubuntu developers.

I can help testing thing if needed. I'm currently running natty on my
macbookpro 6,2 and I'd like to do a fresh install of precise.
I'd like to add a few things though. Besides experiencing all that has
been already described, I tried the "Install ubuntu" option from efi
grub, and adding nomodeset
Running 10.10 on a MacbookPro6,2, I have the same problem, and applying
the powermode and BSSID workaround seems to solve slowness problems.

After trying several things to get the extra side buttons on my
microsoft mouse to work (which btw work fine on another ubuntu install
on a desktop pc) I had completely given up.
Then I started looking about the caps lock light not working and found
out that it was mouseemu's fault, so I uninstall
It's odd, this bug is marked as Fix Released but in Jaunty the bug still exists
(mouseemu installed by default on macbook pro)
As an aside, mouseemu also breaks the extra side button functionality in
Microsoft mice

Ok, so I made a couple of bandwidth tests both on Intrepid and Leopard
and I'm happy to report that the performance of the linux driver is only
slightly inferior to that of the mac driver (4.9Mbps vs 5.2Mbps).
I didn't notice any of the stability problems noted by others though,
