If running ppa-purge xorg-edgers doesn't work, try the following:
sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-video-all
This will then allow you to upgrade from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04.

I don't think this is accurate as I've fully removed the xorg-edgers-ppa
from my system.
Why do you still think it's an issue with xorg-edgers-ppa and what can I
do to resolve it? I've already removed
