I have confirmed that removing the processor (and dependent) modules
fixes the issue, and modprobing the module causes the bug again.

I would like to note that I too have this bug with a Toshiba A105-S4004
laptop with intel chipset. I am able to get past the locked up
blackscreen by pressing my arrow keys some amount of time, (upwards of
10-20 keystrokes) before getting past the blank black screen. then I

There's an odd choice of Australian cities to select your timezone from
in the graphical installer for feisty. Canberra (the capital) and
Melbourne are missing from the list, and there are two really odd towns
with approximately zero population
Whoops - sorry about the Melbourne thing. I guess it's more of a
usability issue really. The Australia/Eucla (site of an old telegraph
station, population 50) and Australia/Currie (largest town in King
Island off Bass Strait, population 1570 for the entire island) timezones
probably are weird
