I'm not using Ubuntu 10.10 anymore (and support for that release ends
next month anyway), but according to http://packages.ubuntu.com/ it now
includes digiKam 1.4, where this bug should be fixed.

Sorry for not having supplied a lot of detailed information on versions
used last time - it was just the default Ubuntu 11.10 packages of the
moment. I did have the same problem in Debian unstable though, but now
it disappeared, and my monitor goes to sleep all right. Some versions:
X.Org X
I have the same problem. I don't think it's good for the monitor, so
I'll disable power saving for the time being.
My monitor is a DELL P2411H (from Xorg.0.log), and the X driver is
Radeon. The monitor is connected via the DVI cable. I don't have the
problem when I use fglrx, the proprietary AMD
Too bad bugzilla.kernel.org has now been down for so many weeks... so
this issue can't be taken to where it probably should really be
discussed.
Here is the workaround I'm now using:
I'm writing the desired wakeup time both to
/sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm and to a file on the file system
This problem is also discussed in the kdenlive forum:
http://kdenlive.org/forum/ubuntu-1110-wont-run-kdenlive-mlts-sdl-module-not-found
I had kdenlive (and some dependencies, probably) installed from the PPA
that's recommended on kdenlive.org, and my kdenlive still starts
(although it now
Thanks for the tip to use Save instead of Sava and Close, Garwood! I tested
it once (with lightning-exchange-provider-v0.15) and it worked. Now I can
finally use Thunderbird directly to add events to a shared Exchange calendar,
and no longer have to use Outlook Web Access for it.
A fix to Save
@Yusef: have you actually tried the 275.09.07 driver, or 275.09.04? The
275 driver(s) before that would not include the fix (I ran into that
problem too), and I don't know about any beta 280.
Anyway nouveau would probably be preferable over the nv driver, from
my experience. If you don't need 3D
@yusef
So you're running a 275.09.07 driver, but it crashes when you resize the
konsole, as Ubuntu's default official nvidia driver?
I also installed using the nvidia packages, but I found it quite complicated,
so I wouldn't recommend it... but I don't remember where exactly the problem
was.
@ArdyFalls: from NVIDIA is not very specific. Are you sure it is the
version 275.09.04? See comment #74 (by me), which includes working
links.
I recommend installing the packages from the PPA, because the Nvidia
installer breaks Ubuntu's packaging system (by deleting/ overwriting
files without
I was excited to finally get working KDE, with transparent terminals and
with OpenGL, when I read about the new NVIDIA Beta drivers (275.09).
Alas, it does not work for me. I installed the driver from:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-amd64-275.09-driver.html
Installation already was
Well, 275.09.04 IS 275.09, just like Linux 2.6.39 is Linux 2.6, isn't
it? I couldn't find that third digit anywhere in my logs, so I assumed
it was correct... and I don't like using Google. Here is what I got,
when I did it nevertheless:

I just notified the exiv2 author Andreas Huggel of this problem. Maybe
he can provide a bugfix that does not add new functionality. Of course
we can't demand that, if there already is a version without the problem
- the distributors have to take care of the situation.
