Same problem here on Lucid 2.6.32-19. I've noticed this anytime I try
and change my screensaver to something 3d

I am having the same problem and it is a nasty crash too. I have a
total system freeze and cannot ping or ssh into the machine after I try
and change the screensaver. This is a P4 2.4ghz system with intel
graphics.

I decided to ssh into the machine and tail a few logs then brought up
the gnome-screensaver settings dialog and here are the errors I got.

Hello
I have the same bug (also with Hugin 0.7-beta40ubuntu4 on Hardy).
I've tried to add Fabrice's repository I get the error in Synaptic:
W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net hardy Release: The following
signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available:
NO_PUBKEY
hugin doesn't crashes - many thanks!
Cheers Alex

Hi alexG,
First of all: this is only a warning, so you can 'ignore' it. If you
want to get rid of this warning, you just have to follow the
instructions at https://launchpad.net/+help/soyuz
I am experiencing the same behavior on my dv9700. I found disabling the
screen saver fixes the power button trick I also found that I cannot
hibernate or suspend with the power cord unplugged.

I just added
Option AccelMethod exa
to the device section of my xorg.conf and it seems to have fixed my corruption
issue. YMMV of course.
