This bug still affects my machine with an ATI RV516 [Mobility Radeon
X1350]. I can't even start the live session without nomodeset, which
totally breaks my hw acceleration. This is my production machine, so I
am unable to test this other than with a live session, because I don't
want to install it
Oh, and I forgot to say that I am using Bodhi Linux right now. It is
Precise-based, but it gets some kernel upgrades. Latest is 3.7.0-7, with
which I experience the same problem. No problems with Linux 3.2.0-35, so
I am using that one right now. But I guess I can't stick to that one
forever... :-/
Latest kernel update (3.5.0-15.23) solved the issue for me.
Thanks

Hello,
Latest upstream kernel (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.6-rc6-quantal/) *fixes* the issue. I double-checked by
booting each kernel twice.
Best regards

We can perform a reverse bisect to identify the commit that fixes this
bug in v3.6. Can you test the following kernel and report back if it
also fixes the bug:

If it does have the bug, can you test some of the newer
Hello,
First version without the bug is rc2.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.6 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

I have the same issue on ThinkPad Edge 11. Sometimes it boots after the
black screen, sometimes it hangs completely.
Also brightness keys are no longer working (in fact Fn-keys are not
working at all, including sound volume and radio toggle).
