I didn't ignore it: I said that on upgrade ( which is what you seem to
be talking about ) it uses the same location you originally chose when
you first installed, so apparently you chose the wrong location then (
and I assume you later used something like boot-repair or manual
installation of grub
So that's okay to mark it as invalid is it? I see you've completely
ignored the entire problem of grub failing.

The default installation target for new installs *is* /dev/sda.
Upgrades honor whatever locations you originally chose to install to,
which apparently in your case was /dev/sda5.
