In case it helps anyone, after a kernel upgrade I always have this error and have to run "apt-get install --reinstall virtualbox-dkms" to rebuild the virtualbox kernel modules against the new kernel. Annoying to have to remember but it solves the problem every time. A kernel upgrade seems like
