This happens for me as well with 20.04 and HP ZBook G5. But after
turning of almost everything in the BIOS and discovering that it
actually booted (without acpi=off), I eventually discovered that it
works if I disable... the microphone(!). There are some errors, but it
boots and is stable

18.04 LTS - ACPI parsing errors in ZBook G5 Mobile Workstation: issues

Hi!
Same problem with HP ZBook G6 15.
Latest BIOS 1.05
Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
The problem occurs with kernel 5.4.0.42 but not with the previous version
5.4.0.26.
Only workaround that works with me is acpi=off as boot parameter.
Regards
Pierre

To manage
I have the latest BIOS running on this machine and also getting ACPI
errors (not running ubuntu but manjaro ( 5.1.15-1-MANJARO #1 SMP
PREEMPT)
[0.932573] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT, Field [CAP1] at bit
offset/length 64/32 exceeds size of target Buffer (64 bits)
That is one exercise I would like to avoid.
Don't want to brick this thing. Going to look into it.
Thanks.

An update. I have update 18.04.2 with the 4.18 kernel.
Still not working. Still have ACPI errors. Now I get
error messages for thew USB ports - "can't set config".
As far as the behavior goes - now the track pad works on boot
but ACPI wake will not work with the laptop's built-in
keyboard not
Link to change the package name does not work. It has already been
changed to linux. I assume the issues are kernel related. Need I change
anything else?
