I have the same problem as Jeremy: after the update to 4.0.1 all the KDE4
entries are wrong: menus, desktop icons, and so on.
I have no ~/share/config/kickoffrc file to delete, so Harald's advice is
useless for me.
I deleted the .kde4 folder in order to have it recreated (as it was), but the
** Tags added: kde4

This issue doesn't just effect the favorites menu entries, it effects
all of the KDE4 entries. The path was changed to
/usr/lib/kde4/bin/nameofexec instead of programname-kde4. New
installations won't have this problem, but those upgrading may still
have programname-kde4 in the menu entries.
As for the initial report:
please run `rm ~/share/config/kickoffrc` ... this issue is caused by a change
in the underlying structure and should only affect the Favorites entries in the
menu.
As for hasi's issue:
Same cause (change in the underlying structure). You can either launch KDE 4
well, I'd say it's even worse: while I can start the new version of Dolphin in
kde4 simply by typing dolphin (rather than dolphin-kde4 as before the
update), I have no idea how to launch the kde4 version of Dolphin while running
under kde3 *AT_ALL* !!!
Am I missing something? Is there no more
