Thanks for replying, the ppa purge installed, but in oibaf graphics
drivers, Warning: could not find package list for etc.

You cannot upgrade because you have 3rd party PPA's installed. Try removing
them before upgrading:
sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers
sudo ppa-purge ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
Let us know if the upgrade works then.
The freezing is a completely different issue.
