I haven't tried the cd of 8.04 but a straight upgrade in update manager gets
the original poisters comment:
Could not calculate the upgrade
A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the curren
cant upgrade to 8.04

I deleted the partition and reinstalled 7.1 and upgraded to 8.04 again.
Worked fine this time, I wonder.
I did that after I tried installing directly to 8.04. It would only
give me 640 in resolution with my Nvidia 440 card. Maybe I did
something wrong.

Hello. I also have encountered the same problem in ubuntu 7.10 amd64,
when I did a "update-manager --devel-release". I attach the three files
inside /var/log/dist-upgrade.

How did you attempt the upgrade and can you please attach the 3 files in
/var/log/distupgrade or /var/log/dist-upgrade it will be one of those
directories, I am away from Ubuntu pc for a while since im not home so
the exact name escapes me
