I suspect it was a crap bluetooth device i had. I got a d-link dbt-122
and all the problems disappeared. Thanks.

Is only scanning affected or even the whole communication?
Do you have (I cannot see that in dmesg but ask for it anyway) another
bluetooth device connected? Could you post the output of the hciconfig

The output of lsusb when the device is plugged in identifies the device
as:
Bus 005 Device 011: ID 0a5c:2035 Broadcom Corp. BCM2035 Bluetooth
All other bluetooth using apps are working far as fine as I can tell.

Sorry for the late reply, was away for a seminar.
At this point in time, i could not rule out the location of the bug. Is
there another application that uses bluetooth and has similar error?
AFAIK, all bluetooth dongles uses the same driver. Could you give us the
name of the bluetooth dongle in q
The dmesg output doesn't show anything related to bluetooth but here
goes...
Also, I tried the same procedure using a different usb bluetooth device
and everything works without errors. I don't know how to identify the
driver in use, so I can't tell you which drivers each of the bluetooth
devices
Could you attach a copy of the dmesg output after the error has occur?
I have open up the pybluez task as this issue could be found in two
different application. Both application uses pybluez to do the binding
of devices.
