Well, it's Debian's solution for the same problem. Luckily, they can
coexist without problems. :)
Is this patch what you had in mind for dpkg-buildpackage? I haven't
tested it extensively yet in case you wanted something different.

yeah for having more than one solution \o/
please make sure first that dpkg-buildpackage has support for
`nohardening' (or whatever) DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS and the patch is sent to
the Debian dpkg devs.
