This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

Good catch Tim!! Edward can you download the alternate iso here:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/8.10/ when this page loads go down to the
section "Alternate Install CD" and select the .iso for your
architecture. If you have a standard 32-bit machine you can use:

According to
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements#Desktop%20installation,
recommended minimum requirements for graphical installation include "384 MB of
system memory (RAM) ".
Even for XUbuntu, it is stated that 192Mb RAM is required for
installation from the LiveCD.
